Nollywood Actress who was sentenced to death, recaptured 6 Years after Prison Break

Nollywood Hausa actress, Rabi Ismail has been recaptured by Intelligence Unit of the Nigerian Prisons Service with the aid from the State Security Service, SSS.
This re-arrest comes six years after Rabi escaped from Hadejia Prison, Jigawa State, on December 16, 2011.

The Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Prisons Service, Francis Enobore who disclosed this in a statement yesterday said the prisoner was sentenced to death by hanging, for culpable homicide by a High Court in Kano on the 5th of January, 2005.
The court had found her guilty of drugging, drowning and killing a male friend, Mr Auwalu Ibrahim, in 2002 to acquire his property in Kano.

In July 2011, the Supreme Court upheld the sentence of the lower courts that sentenced her to death by hanging.
Enobore said Rabi Ismail was subsequently held in Kaduna Central prison from where she was transferred to Hadejia prison before she escaped about 6 years ago.
She was re-arrested by the Intelligence Unit of the Nigerian Prisons Service with the support of men of the Department of State Services. And Enobore expressed the appreciation of the Controller-General of Prisons, Jaa’faru Ahmed to the DSS and the police for their assistance in recapturing the fugitive.
He appealed to members of the public to continue to provide useful information on escapees and other criminal elements to security agents, noting that such outlaws posed security threat to the society.
Enobore said the CG had directed that security measures be strengthened to prevent prison inmates from escaping.
“Other escapees still at large will be fished out no matter how long it takes,” he added.
