Filmmaker/actor Yomi Fabiyi is angry at cyber bullies!

Actor/Filmmaker, Yomi Fabiyi, in a rather lengthy post, addressed the issue of cyber-bullying and trolling. Fabiyi urged celebrities to ignore these ‘psycho patients’ who try to feel important while using cheap data to carry out their acts.

Read what he wrote below.
We are in a precarious situation now that anybody see those living in glass houses (Artists, celebs, public officers) as “SOFT TARGETS” for cyber-bullying and social media blackmail with lied, unverified facts, lies and bigotory.
They believe hurting your brand online, or creating an impression about your personality with less than N100 value of data, thinking it is payback and expect you to loose sleep over it. Iro, ofo ojo keji oja (NO TIME).
The best way any artist can survive this era of cyber-bullying through to cheap blackmail from people we know or we don’t know until the Government fix this rot, everyone should try as much as possible not to respond to irrelevancies online especially those with malicious motives. People must talk or act evil at any slight opportunities. When you reply, you make such person look important than they think they are. Develop a thick skin and simply ignore.
Most bullying don’t last, too many bitter and depressed people out their. Some are psycho patients who are undergoing rehab with an android phones, some will everly take undue advantage. If you have a good publicist/management or lawyer, they know how to handle the rest.
When we ruin the positives of social media in this side of the clan our eyes go open. Abuse, insults and trolling are not public opinion, you are weak if it gets to you. Real successful people dont pay attention. If people will not dig deep before conclusion, catch fun on your page simultaneously and ignore the evil exploit.

University of Ibadan shut as VC orders student to vacate campus

Prior to the time of the order, the students had earlier taken to the streets of Ibadan in protest, alleging insensitivity on the part of the university management. In reaction to this, the management of the University of Ibadan, UI, on Monday shut the institution and directed the students to vacate the campus on or before 6pm.
The university’s Director of Communications and Publication, Olatunji Oladejo, told newsmen that the closure became necessary so as to avert crisis. He said that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Idowu Olayinka had convened an emergency meeting of the university Senate to review the circumstances surrounding the development.

“The University of Ibadan in its wisdom has decided to shift the examination earlier scheduled for June to July, 2017, ” Oladejo said.

He further said that undergraduate students are to resume back in school on July 17, while the post graduate students would continue to stay on campus for their research activities.

The students at a congress on Saturday passed a resolution to disrupt the forthcoming examinations if students were not provided with identity cards. They also asked the authorities to constitute the Students’ Welfare Board as well as allow use of cooking appliances that had been banned in the halls of residence.

ASUU Declares One-Week Warning Strike In UI

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Ibadan (UI) Chapter, has declared a one-week warning strike over illegal pension deductions, fractional salary payments and non-payment of supervision allowance.

The decision was taken yesterday at a congress convened by the union and presided over by its Chairman, Deji Omole.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that members also complained about excessive deductions in their March salaries. The management of the university was also alleged to have failed to declare the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) profile of the university.

According to Mr. Omole, the warning strike is, therefore, to compel the university administration to address the issues which ASUU said bordered on the welfare of her members who are being owed since 2010.

“The congress of ASUU, UNIBADAN, at its meeting of 4th April, 2017, having received permission from the national body of the union, hereby, declare a one-week warning strike.

“The warning strike will commence from 12:01 midnight of Tuesday, 4th April, to 12:00 midnight of Tuesday, 11th April, 2017.

“The congress of the union maintains that the failure of the university administration to satisfactorily resolve all the issues, will force the union to proceed on a comprehensive and total strike,” said Mr. Omole.
